There was a time when the idea of a wedding away from home conjured up images of an episode of "The Love Boat".  These days, couples are traveling the world to get married, adding that exotic touch to an already special day.  Destination Weddings, as they're often called, allow couples to start their honeymoon early and share their day with family and friends in a beautiful, vacation setting.  Before you book your destination wedding though, there are a few things you'll want to know to help you make sure everything goes perfectly.

Does my destination have a wedding program? 

This is not a necessity, but it will help make your wedding that much more relaxing.  Programs, like Sandal's "Weddingmoon", offer all the amenities, such as a hair and make up stylist, reception services and photography on site.  A destination with this type of program will also provide a little peace of mind knowing that they've done this kind of thing before.

Will my marriage be official?

This may or may not be important to you, but it's good to know.  There are countless examples of couples that didn't find out ahead of time only to get home and find out they're still single!

Is there enough room at my destination for family and friends?   

At a destination wedding, guest lists range from only the bridal party to whoever wants to make the trip.  Understanding the size of your guest list and how it relates to the resort is critical.  The last thing you want is to run out of accommodations for the people that are most important to you.
